Behind the scenes of water damage restoration...the tools of the trade; a Protimeter Hygromaster used by IICRC-Certified Technicians.
After a significant water loss (flooded basement, burst pipe, overflowing toilet), it’s not enough to just pull out the standing water. Proper drying requires constant monitoring of both surface moisture and the air itself. In this photo, we’re using a Protimeter Hygromaster L to track critical drying conditions:
✔ 70.5% Relative Humidity
✔ 69.3°F ambient temperature
✔ 75.3 GPP (Grains Per Pound) — a key measurement that tells us how much moisture is actually in the air
We pair this data with industrial drying equipment (like the unit running in the background) to create the right drying conditions and prevent secondary damage like mold growth. Every job is different, and having the right tools and data helps us dry structures thoroughly and efficiently — not just on the surface, but down to the structure itself.
The takeaway: Water damage restoration is part science, part experience. We take both seriously.
